What you can expect when hiring me.

We meet to see if we would make a great fit going forward. You may take all the time you need to decide. I wait for you to contact me. This visit can take place at anytime during your pregnancy. Once you’ve hired me, I am available to you by phone and email throughout your pregnancy and you are encouraged to make use of my resource library and lending materials. We will have 2 further meetings before your due date to discuss your birth wishes.
The first visit...
Will be to discuss in length your wishes, thoughts, feelings, and expectations regarding labour and delivery, and our general role. I will prepare an extensive birth plan that includes your opinion on pain relief, and choices with regards to relaxation, breathing and visualization techniques, and positions for labour, as well as choices regarding skin to skin and infant care. This will be the prenatal visit where we go through our agreement and sign the contract and payment is required, which will be half paid at this time and a cheque dated 2 weeks prior to your due date.
The second visit...
Will be a hands-on preparation for labour and delivery, approximately 3 weeks prior to your due date, and will take place in the comfort of your home. This will be a review of what will happen during your birth experience, and our role within it. I show you the tools I use for natural comfort measures. We will actually practice various positions for labour, rehearse relaxation techniques and breathing, which help reduce pain and allow you to work through the contractions. I will go through massage and position techniques with birth partners in this visit so they too will be going into this birth feeling confident in themselves, knowing they will be able to help bring you comfort.
The Third Visit...
Will be 1 postpartum visit within 24-48 hours after the birth of your baby to go over breastfeeding, mom's after care and any other topics that you may want more information on. If you would like another visit we can definitely arrange that.
A Birth story
I love taking detailed notes throughout our time together to turn them into a Birth Story. This is a great keepsake containing the details of your birth experience that would normally be difficult to remember. If you have private moments you would like to add leading up to your birth, or any memories you would like to include, please feel free to write them down and i'll be sure to add them. ~A.S
